High Desert Opera (HDO) is a professional non-profit musical theater and opera company dedicated to bringing quality, fully-staged productions to the Grand Junction area and Western Colorado.
This company relies on community support, donors, and sponsors to help bring quality opera and Broadway musicals to life.
HDO to close its doors after 21 seasons
After heavy considerations from the directors and the board of HDO, the decision has been made to dissolve the non-profit opera/theater company that brought productions like CAMELOT, THE MUSIC MAN, HANSEL & GRETEL, and THE WIZARD OF OZ to the Grand Junction stage.
Since 2003, This company has been a bright spot for community theater in the Grand Valley, providing opportunity to local vocalists and other talented individuals in being part of professional, fully-staged productions.
However, most importantly, it is the volunteers, donors, program sponsors and advertisers who have made these shows possible, "setting the stage" for HDO to go from New Year's Eve galas in the basement of a church to performing extravaganzas like LES MISÉRABLES and MAMMA MIA!.

We will be keeping the site live for the time being with the effort to thank those involved, share content from past shows, and celebrate the highlights of this troupe and the people who made it possible.
